Guarantee and Limitations

Appleby Painting guarantees that failed areas, specifically blistering and/or peeling, due to inadequate preparation will be repaired at no cost to the homeowner for a period of two (2) years from the date of work completion. The repairs will be completed to the standard of quality defined by the original quotation with the following considerations:

  1. The repairs will be completed within 90 days of notification in writing or with e-mail confirmation to Appleby Painting by the homeowner. Claims on exterior work made after August 31 may not be fully addressed until the following exterior season (After May 1 of the following year).
  2. Any work for which the company was not paid in full for, where the customer supplied the paint, or where the customer was given specific notification that the work could not be covered are void from this guarantee
  3. As the work is done based on a visual inspection any problems that arise that could not be forseen by the visual inspection are also void from our guarantee. This includes such things as the failure of a previous coating by delamination and unforseen moisture problems.
  4. Mold, mildew, chalking and fading are problems unrelated to the quality of the workmanship and are therefore excluded from this guarantee

Colour Selection

Colours must be chosen by the client prior to work commencing. If, after the job starts, a colour change is requested the client may be charged for additional costs for materials and/or expenses incurred from applying the the new colour(s).

Should the surface require more than the quoted number of coats to achieve colour uniformity and coverage the client will be notified of, and required to approve, any additional charges related to the extra coats prior to the additional work commencing.

Quality Standards

Repainted interior surfaces shall be considered unacceptable if brush/roller marks, streaks, laps, runs, sags, drips, heavy stippling, skipped or missed areas, and foreign materials in paint coatings are evident under ambient lighting conditions:

  • visible defects are evident on vertical surfaces when viewed at 90 degrees to the surface from a distance of 1 m.
  • visible defects are evident on horizontal surfaces when viewed at 45 degrees to the surface from a distance of 1 m.
  • visible defects are evident on ceiling surfaces when viewed at 45 degrees to the surface.
  • when the final coat on any surface exhibits a lack of uniformity of sheen across full surface area when viewed under the preceding criteria

The quote provided is valid for 180 days from the date it is given. After the 180 days it may be subject to revision before the project can be booked. This may include an increase in cost and/or a revision of materials or workmanship procedures.
